Mom, Lexi, and me in front of the Acropolis! All my life I have learned about gods and goddess's. I never thought I would be in the one place where these myths were begun! Very surreal!
This is what happens on last minute trips: you don't alway end up with the best hotel. Our hotel was the size of a closet, and the bathroom was even worse. There was a foot of open space under the door, and the shower head was almost right over the toilet. You could almost do both at the same time. Our hotel was actually featured in the movie My Life in Ruins, and they make fun of how bad the accomodations are!
A beach in Athens. It was quite cold still; however, the Grecians were out in bathing suits and swimming in the sea. The rocks are the most beautiful rocks I have ever found. They are all assortments of colors and marble looking. I brought many home with me!
American's have no idea what a Greek Salad is until you have it in Greece. No Lettuce! A real one consists of tomatoes, green peppers, onions, black olives, and a square of feta cheese. An oily dressing and some bread finish it off! We ate at a restaurant right on the beach next to the water. It was amazing!
Greek Parliment...
These were the first ruins we saw in Greece! These are the remains of the Temple of Zeus! You can get quite close, but the entire area is fenced of for preservation.
This temple was seen from the top of the Acropolis. It is the Temple of Hephaistos, and was located near the Agora, local market place and site of political and social events. We tried looking for this once off the Acropolis and couldn't, partly because no on in the city speaks English! That was very rare compared to the other countries we visited!
Mom and I in front of the Acropolis before we headed on up! From this hill, we could see the entire city of Athens. I could hardly imagine what I would see from the Acropolis! At night time the Acropolis is completely lit up. Being the center of the city, it is hard not stare at this beautiful piece of art.

In a popular area of Athens is a street full of performers. This one here is dressed like a Grecian God. He was quite funny and liked to scare my sister Lexi.
We took a ride around Athens on this train. It was night time and everything was lit up, including the Acropolis. It was incredible! It was quite scary when this little train ventured out into a major road, crusing along with cars speeding past us on both sides. I'm glad we made it out alive!
Me and Lexi standing in front of the Theather off of the Acropolis.
The Parthenon! The main temple of the Acropolis dedicated to Goddess Athena.

Coming down the backside of the Acropolis. Alot of scaffolding is up from construction. The tiles onthe ground are all different colors which I was suprised to see. This led down to three different theaters toward the bottom of the hill.
This was us wandering around trying to figure how to get up the Acropolis. We soon came to learn something about Athens: Stray dogs! Pictured is only one dog; however, there were times when at least five dogs were following us around the city. It was quite humorous because we couldn't get rid of them!
