Barcelona, Espana
Mark and I traveled to Barcelona.. twice. Once while he came to visit me in Rome, and the second was me going to visit him while studying abroad. Most pic's here are from our 2nd trip. This was my first day visiting in front of the Med. Sea.
In front of the W hotel. The newest addition to Barcelona! It sits right on the Mediteranean Sea and next to glorious beaches!
Buildings that serve as information centers for Guadi's Parc Guell. You will soon learn that the arcitecture here is like nothing you have ever seen.
In front of Parc Guell. This is the front entrance to the park. Notice all the mossaic tiles he uses. Very common of Gaudi's work. We missed this attraction our first time we were here, so it was nice to finally see it in person!
Park del Forum. We are standing in front of a large solar panel. This gives off alot of energy and electricity through out the city.
Las Ramblas! Basically the main street in Barcelona. It is full of restaurants, venders, performers... this street will lead you straight down to the beaches and port!
In front of the Segrada Familia! This is another work by Gaudi which has been in the process of construction for over 100 years! Notice all of the cranes in the background. They have about 50 more years to go, constructing the rest of the building in the gothic style like when it first started.
This is on top of Gaudi's building La Pedera. This building is an apartment building now used as a museum. There is an open hole in the middle of the building so that light is coming in through to the bottom floor. The architecture on top is hard to describe. Almost like you were in the desert sort of feel.
Heading down off of Montjuic, which is a very large mountain that encompasses the city This is seen from most parts of Barcelona. This view is overlooking the port.
In front of the Arc di Triumph. This is in the middle of a city area and leads to a large park full of ponds, trees, flowers, and grass. Our second picture here.. 2 years later. We were much more experienced as where to go the second time around. (Looking back I have 2 different perspectives of the city on both trips. It's like they were 2 complete different cities. Funny how perspective changes when you have someone who knows where they are going).
A day of flying kites on the beach after watching the Triatholon! Pictured: Paul and Mark. Our kite wasn't working so well so an older man brought his large oval shaped kite out for us to play with. The kite was so powerful it could lift you right off of the ground!
Stiges, Spain. A short 30 minute train ride outside of Barcelona. We came here with Mark's friends Paul and Colleen to witness a Zombie Walk outside of an old castle. A memory is the trains not running to go back, to the city and waiting til 1 am fighting to get on a bus with other people heading back to Barcelona. We made our way on the bus successfully!
Torre Agbar. A well-known building in Barcelona. Known for its work on water conservation. On the bottom floor the public is able to go in and learn about the different things the company works towards regarding water conservation.
